HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Security forces have thwarted an attempt to smuggle hundreds of sheep to Iran through the Islam Qala port in western Herat province, an official said on Saturday.
According to a statement from the 207th Al-Farooq Corps, the sheep smuggling bid was foiled on Friday night.
Intelligence agents from the 10th Brigade of the Border Force seized 550 sheep in Kohsan district. The sheep were to be smuggled to Iran via the Islam Qala port.
The statement added two individuals involved in the smuggling attempt were arrested and handed over to judicial organs for further investigation.
