KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has extended its condolences to the oppressed people of Palestine over the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.
Sinwar was killed in combat in Gaza with the Israeli military, Khalil Hayya, the head of Hamas in the embattled enclave, confirmed on Friday night.
IEA chief spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid released a condolence message from the acting prime minister on his X handle.
He wrote: “It is with profound sorrow that we have received news of the martyrdom of Yahya Sinwar, leader of Hamas Islamic Movement. He was martyred in an attack by Zionist occupiers.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the Islamic Movement of Hamas, to all mujahideen, especially to the oppressed but courageous Palestinian fighters on martyrdom of our heroic mujahid brother, Yahya Sinwar.”
Mujahid believed the loss of such leaders would strengthen the jihadist struggle against the enemy many times over.
The interim government of Afghanistan called on Islamic countries to support the oppressed Palestinians.
Meanwhile, Khaled Mashal has been named as the new Hamas group leader.
