KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Independent Journalists Union (AIJU) and a private hospital has inked and agreement on offering journalists and their families up to 70 percent discount in health services.

The agreement was inked today (Tuesday) between AIJU chief Hujjatullah Mujadedi and Sabet Shinozada Private Hospital CEO Abdullah Yousufzai.

At the agreement signing ceremony, the hospital’s CEO said that the hospital will consider the discount for journalists and their family members.

He said 50 percent discount would be applicable for all health services for journalists and their family members.

Referring to the dire economic situations of journalists, AIJU head explained journalists will get 50 to 70 percent discount in 13 diagnostic sections.

He said the current discount will alleviate some problems of journalists with regard to health services.

He added the current agreement was valid for three years and there was a possibility of an extension.

Journalists Faridullah Mohammadi said the role of journalist had higher spiritual values in society, but they faced serious challenges.

He hoped the agreement will further reduce the gap between the media and the private sector.

Earlier on (Feb 20), the AIJU had singed another agreement with another institution of higher education for offering the journalists up to 80 percent discount in dental health services and other lab medical checkups.
