KABUL (Pajhwok): A Turkish construction firm has shown interest to invest a in 200MW wind power project in western Herat province, a statement said on Wednesday.
Head of the 77 Construction and Constructing Company Sulaiman Jalilo during a meeting with the acting Minister of Water and Energy Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour that he was considering investing in the 200MW wind power generation project in Herat with the ministry’s consent, the Ministry of Water and Energy said in a statement.
Officials of the Ministry of Water and Energy praised the implementation of water and energy projects by 77 Construction Company and emphasized the acceleration of the second phase of the Kajaki Dam.
Mawlavi Mansour said efforts were being made to conduct the necessary evaluations to provide land for investment for200 MW wind power generation project of Herat, and the contract for this project will be signed soon
Separately, the Ministry of Water and Energy has signed a joint cooperation agreement with a company named “Dong Fong” to invest in energy production projects from different sources in Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Water and Energy wrote on its website today (Wednesday) that an agreement was signed between Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour, the acting minister of water and energy, and Zyia, the manager of Dong Fong Company.

Mansour asked the Dong Fong Company to invest in the power generation sector as well as in the strengthening of transmission and distribution substations, so that the energy absorption ground can be prepared simultaneously with the energy production.
At the same time, the official of this company assured the leadership of the ministry, along with the promise of speeding up the practical work, that he would allocate investments in the energy production, development and transmission projects in Afghanistan.
He said that new technology, experienced and expert forces will be used in the implementation of the projects.
In addition, the Acting Minister of Water and Energy Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour signed a cooperation agreement with the CEO of Afghan Pamir Oxus (APC) Company Syed Mohammad Hashim Hosseini for the purpose of investing in energy projects.
According to this agreement, the said company invests in various energy production projects in Afghanistan such as transmission, construction and strengthening of substations. The ministry would cooperate with the company in the implementation of the projects.
