GERDAZ (Pajhwok): Boundary walls, toilets and clean drinking water supply networks have been constructed for six schools in three districts of southeastern Paktia province, an official announced on Thursday.
Education Director Maulvi Abdul Qayom Farooqi told a ceremony in this regard in Gerdaz, the provincial capital, that boundary walls, toilets and clean drinking water networks were constructed for three schools in Zarmat, two in Zmakanio districts and one in the provincial capital.
Funded by the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the projects accounted 31.5 million afghans, he said.
He added students had previously been facing many problems absent these facilities.
Meanwhile, residents of these districts are also happy over the execution of the projects.
Said Malok, an inhabitant of Mihan area of the provincial capital, said their children were facing many problems due to lack of a boundary wall, toilets and clean drinking water facilities in their school.
He also urged the department concerned to resolve the issue of lack of teachers and books as well.
However, the education department assured that the shortage of teachers and books would be resolved in near future.
