GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Spending their own money, residents of the Jaghatu district of southern Ghazni province have constructed a new school building at a cost of five million afghanis.
Haji Zaki, an inhabitant of the district, told Pajhwok Afghan News the building for Bala Sari Targan School had been constructed by locals.
He said the project, offering students an enabling learning environment, accounted for five million afghanis and took six months to complete.
Meanwhile, Deputy Director of Education Maulvi Mohammad Ibrahim Hanafi said the previous school building was dilapidated.
He added the single-storey building had been constructed to contemporary standards on 500 square metres of land. The structure has eight classrooms, toilets and a playground.
Earlier, residents from the district had constructed a building for the school in a demonstration of their passion for education.
