Afghanistan, Kazakhstan agree to expand trade ties

KABUL (Pajhwok): A roadmap of cooperation between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan has been signed during the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) delegation trip, a statement said on Friday.

IEA Spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid on his x.com wrote: “The government delegation has signed the roadmap for cooperation with Kazakhstan in various fields during its visit.”

During this trip, the road map of cooperation between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan in various fields such as trade, industry, mines, energy, logistics, agriculture, telecommunications, health, higher education and humanitarian aid was signed, he said.

He stated that contracts worth $100 million have been signed in various sectors between the private sectors of the two countries.

Mujahid said creating more facilities for the transit of Afghanistan's imported and exported goods to China and other countries through Kazakhstan, which is an easy and cheap route, the approval of an area as a logistics center in the port of Khargoz for Afghanistan, Kazakhstan's readiness to participate in the construction of the Torghandi-Herat-Kandahar railway,  Spinboldak and Mazar-e-Sharif-Kharlachi and the creation of a commercial and transit center in Herat for the storage and financing of commercial and transit goods were the achievements of this trip.

Organizing the exhibition of Afghan products and selling more than 50 percent of the goods in this exhibition, understanding on the establishment of sales centers for Afghan goods in different cities of Kazakhstan and concluding a contract for more than two thousand tons of dry fruits between the private sector of the two countries and starting the export of fresh fruits such as pomegranates and The country's readiness to buy Afghan cotton were the other achievements of the delegation.

On Monday, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that for the first time, a shipment of Kandahar pomegranates, which is 23 tons, was exported to the city of Almaty, Kazakhstan.
