KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi has asked Iran to cooperate in extradition of Afghan prisoners languishing in the country’s jails.
In a meeting with an Iranian delegation headed by the country’s deputy minister for justice Askar Jalalian,, Muttaqi thanked Iran for hosting Afghan refugees and said that the country should fully cooperate in the transfer of Afghan prisoners.
MoFA deputy spokesman Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal wrote on X today that Muttaqi met with the Iranian delegation in his office and both sides discussed bilateral trade and economic relations, Afghan refugees and prisoners in Iran and regional political cooperation.
Amir Khan Muttaqi thanked Iran for hosting Afghan refugees for four decades and called for good interaction and patience with the refugees.
He said the Islamic Emirate was committed to working with the Iranian government in the extradition of Afghan prisoners and urged Iran to provide full cooperation in the transfer of Afghan prisoners to their country.
For his part, Iran’s deputy minister of justice Dr. Askar Jalalian said that his country was pleased with recent developments and stability in Afghanistan.
During his trip to Afghanistan, he said , he had positive meetings with various institutions of the country.
He added his country would practically extend cooperation with Afghanistan based on agreements concerning the transfer of Afghan prisoners.
