ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Telecommunication services have improved in southwestern Nimroz province with 70 percent completion of the transfer of the fiber optic and opening of 25 new telecom sites in the provincial capital and districts in the past three months, an official said on Monday.
Abdul Rahim Fayaz, head of the Information and Telecommunication Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News following the complaints of the residents about the low quality of telecommunication services in the province, measures were taken to improve the quality of telecom services and now telecom services were in better condition compared to the past.
He said 25 new telecom sites have opened in the provincial capital and districts and currently work for the creation of more sites was underway.
The Telecom Department head said: “All the districts are covered, but some villages are deprived of telecommunication services, we have coordinated with the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology, the Ministry has approved the creation of sites, and soon the work will start in those areas as well.”
Fayaz said in the past one telecom company operated in Nimroz but now five companies provided services, these companies competed to provide quality services to the people.
He said the rate of internet has now reduced by 10 afs to 12 afs per one GB, adding that now 100 GB internet was accounted for 1000 afs to 1,200 afs.
Referring to the improvement in the quality of telecom services, he said: “Earlier, the internet was 2G in Nimroz, then it improved to 3G and recently it further improved to 4G, Roshan Company is among the companies making this progress, they used to use 5MW frequency, now they use 10MW frequency.”
The head of telecommunications of Nimroz province said about the optical fiber transmission work in this province that 70 percent of the work of this project has been completed and in the near future it will be completed by 100 percent, and with its completion, the internet speed will be very high.
