KABUL (Pajhwok): China and Turkmenistan have pledged to work for the social and economic stability of Afghanistan, a statement said on Friday.
Officials from the Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan and China emphasised in a bilateral meeting that the two countries will continue their comprehensive cooperation to improve the economic situation in Afghanistan.
The Turkmen Foreign Ministry’s statement said that Sardar Muhammad Durdyev, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, and Yu Xiaoyong, China's Special Representative for Afghanistan held a meeting.
During the meeting, the two sides emphasized the importance of the role of multilateral international platforms in maintaining the stability of Afghanistan for sustainable reconstruction and improving the social and economic situation of the country.
The meeting also discussed holding the fifth meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan's neighboring countries in Turkmenistan, statement said.
It added that Turkmenistan and China sustained and comprehensive support for the economic reconstruction of Afghanistan, based on the principles of friendship and good neighborliness.
The role of the international community in establishing stability in Afghanistan and developing the country's social and economic situation were other topics discussed in the meeting.
The meeting took place while the Chinese special representative for Afghanistan had previously met with Amina Baloch, foreign minister of Pakistan.
