180 drug addicts rejoin families after treatment in Herat

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Nearly 200 drug addicts have been reintegrated into society and reunited with their families after undergoing a 12-month treatment in western Herat province, an official said Wednesday.

Head of anti-narcotics department Maulvi Hayatullah Rohani said that after successfully completing the treatment period, , 180 individuals were reunited with their families today.

These individuals had been collected from across the province and treated at rehabilitation centre, he added.

According to officials, more than 12,000 people addicted to drug have been treated at the province’s 4,000-bed treatment center and returned to their families.

On the other hand, these treated people are happy with their treatment and asked the government to provide them with jobs.

Two weeks ago, more than 350 addicts rejoined their families after treatment in the treatment center.
