PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Two people have been killed and two others injured as a result of a clash between two families over calling off engagement in northern Baghlan province, police said on Tuesday.
In a statement, the police headquarters quoted Police Chief Shaikh Mohammad Yasin as saying: “The clash surfaced between two families and after killing two members of a family, the suspect also injured himself before security forces reached the scene and prevented the dispute from escalating and further casualties”.
On the other hand, a resident of Jalga district, who did not want to be named, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Kazim and Tor Mohammad are relatives, but Kazim wanted to break off engagement of his daughter with Tor Mohammad’s son. Both sides were going to the district court when the fight broke out. The groom tried to kill the girl. He wanted to shoot her, but the girl's father, Kazim, and her brother were shot and killed. The groom is also said to be injured in the dispute”.
