Volleyball tournament kicks off in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): A volleyball tournament titled “Champions Trophy” featuring nine teams kicked off in capital Kabul on Tuesday, an official announced.

Deputy Director of Volleyball Federation Mohammad Fahim Samim told Pajhwok Afghan News the tournament was aimed at selecting best players for Volley Premier League scheduled to commence soon.

He said the tournament would last for six days. On other hand, volleyball players were also happy over the start of the tournament.

Najmuddin Nasari, a player, called the tournament essential for them and added they could obtain experience from senior players.

He said he had exercised enough ahead of the tournament and hoped to be selected for the volleyball premier league.

He also urged the federation concerned to organize more such tournaments in order to boost the volleyball sport in the country.
