UNSC meeting sans IEA representation unproductive: Mujahid

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has termed the UN Security Council (UNSC) meeting unfair and unrealistic without the participation its representative.

In an audio message, Mujahid said without the participation of a representative of the caretaker government, the decisions of the meeting will be arbitrary and far from reality.

Mujahid also said that holding such meetings without the participation of a representative of the Islamic Emirate is a waste of time.

These remarks come as the UN Security Council is holding a meeting on Afghanistan on Thursday, December 12.

He added the denial of Afghanistan’s seat in the UN to the IEA would create ambiguities and, in addition to preventing Afghanistan from expressing its position, the organization's decisions would not be in the interest of the people of the country.

Mujahid once again called for granting the UN seat before discussing Afghanistan, saying that by granting the seat, the caretaker government would defend its position and the ambiguities that had arisen would be removed.
