MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): Maidan Atalan team emerged victorious in a volleyball competition in central Maidan Wardak province which featured 24 teams from six provinces.
Wahidullah Sarwari, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the competition began a week ago in Maidan Shahr and teams from Maidan Wardak, Kabul, Kapisa, Logar, Nangarhar, and Kunar provinces participated in the event.
He said the Maidan Atalan and Zor Maidan Shahr teams reached the final match.
Sarwari added that the Maidan Atalan team won the final a 3-0.
According to him, the purpose of the competition was to promote unity among athletes and share experiences.
On the other hand, players were also happy with the organization of the competition.
A player from Kunar province, Adam Khan, told Pajhwok that he was excited that such a competition was held in Maidan Wardak.
He urged officials to organize similar competitions nationwide to foster coordination and share experiences among players.
The top teams in the competition were awarded 20,000 afgahnis each, along with trophies, while the best players received medals and other prizes.
