Draft approved to promote local products, Ghori cement use

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Economic Commission has approved a draft procedure to promote the use of domestic agricultural and livestock products, as well as the adoption of Ghori Cement in construction projects across the country.

The decision was made during a regular meeting of the Economic Commission, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund at the Marmarin Palace.

The meeting addressed several key issues, including the draft procedure for utilizing domestic products, the transfer of land to customs facilities at Ghulam Khan port in Khost Province and Spin Boldak port in Kandahar province, and other important matters.

After in-depth discussions, the draft procedure aimed at promoting the use of domestic agricultural and livestock products was approved.

The procedure has been referred to the Prime Minister’s Office for final approval and implementation.

The initiative is designed to support local farmers and livestock owners by increasing market opportunities for their products.

Under the plan, all government institutions, including the ministries of defense, interior and General Directorate of Intelligence, along with citizens, will be encouraged to prioritize locally produced agricultural and livestock products to meet their needs.

The meeting also reviewed and approved a report on the use of Ghori Cement in construction projects. Based on the report, recommendations were issued to relevant ministries, organizations, and citizens to prioritize Ghori Cement in projects where it meets the required quality standards.

The Ghori Cement Factory, which currently produces 700 tons of cement daily, was urged to enhance its production capacity and ensure the consistent quality of its products.

The goal is to achieve self-sufficiency in Afghanistan’s cement sector and reduce reliance on imported cement.

The Economic Commission's decision underscores the government's commitment to promoting domestic industries and fostering economic self-sufficiency.
