KABUL (Pajhwok): Vocational training for over 500 drug addicts has begun in Pul-i-Charkhi Technical and Vocational Training Center in Kabul under the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
MoLSA’s spokesman Samiullah Ibrahi told Pajhwok Afghan News a committee has been appointed to round up drug addicts and introducing them to the technical and vocational training centers after treatment.
He said the six-month vocational training program for over 500 drug addicts kicks off in Pul-i-Charkhi Vocational Training Center in Kabul today.
These training programs included shoemaking, cloth and bag sewing, electrical appliance repair, and construction carpentry, spokesman added.
Deputy Minister Maulvi Mohammad Zahid Ahmadzai said the Islamic Emirate is determined that no addict should be left without treatment.
Ahmadzai explained the ministry trying to activate technical and vocational training centers for people recovering from drug addiction in major zones.
On the other hand, Ilham, a resident of Paktia and a recovering drug addict, told Pajhwok that he turned to drugs eight years ago due to some problems.
According to him, he is happy with treatment and wants to pursue technical and vocational training in the field of bag making.
Ilham asked youths to avoid using of drugs.
Previously, 4,000 drug addicts have graduated from the ministry's technical and vocational training centers, MoLSA added.
The Technical and Vocational Training Center in Pul-i-Charkhi, was built by the MoLSA at a cost of 30 million Afghanis on 1402 solar year.
