TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): A three decades long enmity between to families in the Chori district of southern Uruzgan provinces has ended through reconciliation.
Local officials, tribal elders and religious scholars mediated reconciliation between the two sides and a tribal Jirga held on Monday ended the 30-year-old feud between the two sides.
The Jirga was attended by Mohammad Ali Jan Ahmad, an official of the provincial Tribal Affairs and Borders Department, religious scholars and tribal elders who announced end to the three decades long enmity.
They said the enmity started after an internal dispute which resulted in the killing of one person.
Mawlavi Ahmad thanked the two sides for honoring and accepting the decision of the Jirga and said the current time was a good opportunity for addressing bilateral enmities.
He said: “The enmity between Mohammad and Mawla Dad’s families in the Sarrai area which lasted for 30 years ended today.”
He said after the takeover of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, several enmities in many areas have ended.
Meanwhile, the reconciled families have thanked officials, elders and religious scholars for the efforts that resulted in reconciliation between them.
Earlier, a four decades long dispute between two families was addressed in the province.
