LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Department will establish fruit orchards on 120 acres of land in southern Helmand province, an official said on Monday.
The department’s head Qari Mohammad Nasim Muslim told Pahwok Afghan News they will establish different fruit gardens on 120 acres of lands in Sangin, Kajaki, Mussa Qala and Nawzad districts.
“The survey to set up these gardens has been conducted and land allocation is underway. Vineyards of grapes, almonds, figs and other trees will be built”: he added.
According to him, these orchards will be built on 30 acres of land in each district at a cost of $700 per acre.
“These orchards funded by DAKAR Foundation and it will be of a high standard. Gardeners get a lot of yields from gardens and strengthen their economy”.
Muslim explained the department will be built 30 greenhouses, equipment has been delivered and handed over to farmers as soon as possible.
