Land distributing process for returnees begins in Daikundi

NIELI (Pajhwok): The process of distributing land plots to returnees has been launched in Neili city, the capital of central Daikundi province, an official said on Monday.

At the opening ceremony, Chief of Staff for the Ministry of Defense Qari Fasihuddin Fitrat said four and a half decades of war displaced millions of Afghans, but the Islamic Emirate ensured security and peace after takeover and paved the ground for all refugees to return to their areas.

The Islamic Emirate, as a responsible system, was striving to provide permanent housing for returnees, he added.

Governor Maulvi Najibullah Rafi promised all refugees and returnees that the land distribution process would be fair and that those who were wronged would be thoroughly investigated.

Fitrat asked all partner institutions and organizations to devote their projects to fundamental work and fulfill their responsibilities towards returnees.

Returnees welcomed the land distribution process and explained they endured great sufferings and pain for years in foreign countries and now, upon returning to their country, they need the attention of the government.

According to Amanullah, a returnee, the largest number of immigrants in neighboring countries belonged Daikundi due to poverty, hardships, and deprivation.

Officials of the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing told Pajhwok Afghan News that 48 townships have been built in 30 provinces of the country for families who were forcibly deported from neighboring countries, and in addition, another 14,000 acres of land has been allocated for destitute returnee families in nine provinces.
