KABUL (Pajhwok): The second strategic cooperation conference between the Technical Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVET-A) and private sector has been held in the capital Kabul to promote vocational training and create jobs.
The conference that began today (Monday) was attended by government officials and representatives of different organizations and institutions.
Mawlavi Ghulam Saeed Ihsaas, deputy head of the TVET-A, said technical education not only improved students' skills, but also played an important role in the economic and social development of the country.
He said currently, 385 technical and vocational education centers operating across the country, where thousands of people are studying in various fields.
Mawlavi Ihsaas said: “We coordinate and collaborate with the private sector to not only improve the skills of students, but also provide them with training programs tailored to market needs.”
Mohammad Younis Mohmand, deputy head of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, said that private sector cooperated with the TVET-A.
He said that Afghanistan is a transit country; it needed professional drivers, and they were ready to jointly establish an academy to train professional drivers.
Da Afghanistan Bank representative Ehsanullah Mansoor spoke at the second conference on the development of vocational education and creating job opportunities for professionals.
He said that Da Afghanistan Bank provided small loans to innovative individuals in the light of Sharia principles so that professionals could create their own working environment.
He added that the organization offered internship programs for graduates so that they could gain experience and work practically in their field of specialization.
Sheikh Ziaurrahman Ayoubi, the representative of the Minister of Mines and Petroleum, talked about the importance of technical education and said: “We need to depend on ourselves and train professional people.”
He said, they were eager to cooperate with the Technical and Vocational Education Authority to train skilled workers in the mining sector. It is worth noting that on the first day of this conference, the Technical and Vocational Education Authority also signed some agreements with Afghan Cure Emirati Company, Mahbooba Promise Khairbah Foundation, Afghan Women's Vocational Livestock Organization, and Sustainable Development and Partnership Organizations.
