Medical faculty approved for Badakhshan University

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) leadership has approved adding medical faculty to the University of northeastern Badakhshan province, an official announced on Tuesday.

Hafiz Ziaullah Hashimi, spokesman for the Ministry of Higher Education (MoE), wrote on his X handle:  “With the special order of IEA supreme leader, the medical faculty has been approved for Badakhshan University.”

He added this decision was made to expand quality of higher medical education in Afghanistan, facilitate access to standard healthcare services for the people of Badakhshan, and address medical challenges in the region.

However, he did not elaborate when construction work on the Faculty of Medicine at Badakhshan University will begin.
