KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) says more than 15 million electronic identity cards have been issued since the start of the process across the country.
In a statement, NSIA said out of 15 million and more than 18,000 applicants, 9.067 cards were issued to men and 5.952 million to women nationwide.
It said more than 15.018 million ID cards have been distributed to applicants after the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA).
The statement said over 6,220,000 cards were distributed to people in Kabul, more than 1,006,000 in Herat, 765,256 in Nangarhar, above 678,000 in Balkh and nearly 526,000 in Kandahar.
According to the statement, 73 ID cards issuance branches are functioning across the country in addition to mobile centers, providing services to male and female applicants every day.
NSIA is trying to activate ID card distribution branches in districts to provide more facilities to the people.
