JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Construction of a road with adjusted canal and culverts estimated to cost 14 million afghanis has been launched in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Monday.
Mayor’s spokesman Hamid Mahmoodi told Pajhwok Afghan News the road, canal and culverts were being constructed in fifth district by the municipality.
He said the project included construction of a 815-meter road, 815-meter long canal along the road, and eight culverts. Jalalabad Municipality has funded the project.
The construction of the road will reduce traffic congestion in the area and provide ease of travel for citizens, the spokesman added.
On the other hand, residents are also happy with the construction of the road.
Syed Khan, a resident, told Pajhwok concreting the road will largely solve people’s problems.
According to Syed Khan, special attention should be paid to the quality of roads and other works, and similar projects should be implemented in the future.
The Municipality is trying to pave and build all of Jalalabad’s secondary roads in addition to the main roads.
