KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Armed robbers shot and injured two shopkeepers in southern Kandahar province, an official said on Tuesday.
Police spokesman Mullah Asadullah Jamshed said the incident happened in Sarposh Market of Kandahar city on Monday (evening).
He did not provide more information about the incident, but said the robbers fled from the area and police had launched an investigation to arrest them.
Meanwhile, a shopkeeper in Sarposh Bazaar, who did not want to be named, told Pajhwok Afghan News that masked robbers tried to extort money from several shopkeepers in the market last evening, but they were met with resistance from other people.
According to him, the robbers opened fire at shopkeepers in an attempt to escape, injuring two people.
The shopkeepers asked the government to pay serious attention to their security.
