KABUL (Pajhwok): Complex bone deformity surgeries have successfully been performed on four children at the 400-bed Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan hospital in capital Kabul, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on Tuesday.
The four children who were suffering from congenital and acquired disabilities and deformities had been sent to Germany for treatment by the "Our Future Children" organization, MoD said.
A statement from the ministry explained the children did not receive complete treatment in Germany and the organization referred them to Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan hospital after returning to the country.
It said that over the past two weeks, bone grafting, bone fixation, and plastic surgery procedures were successfully performed by orthopedic and trauma surgery specialists, in collaboration with an Indian specialist.
According to the statement, the children not only faced surgical complexities, but also had residual deformities and pseudoarthrosis (false joint disease).
The outcomes of the surgeries of all the four children were satisfactory and they are expected to lead normal lives in future.
Earlier, several complex surgeries have also been successfully performed at the same hospital.
