AIBAK (Pajhwok): Three water supply networks have been completed and put into service in Hazratullah Sultan and Feroz Nakhchir districts of northern Samangan province, an official said on Wednesday.
At a ceremony in this regard, Rural Rehabilitation Department director Maulvi Abdul Rahim Qasim said the three water supply schemes were built in Ghaznigag and Koka Balaq villages of Hazrat Sultan district and Burma village of Feroz Nakhchir district.
He said the networks included digging of three wells at a depth of 100 and 130 meters, construction of three reservoirs with the capacity of storing 20 to 30 cubic meters of water, installing 248 water taps and 33 solar panels.
The projects valued 11.13 million afghanis funded by Norway in cooperation with the Rural Rehabilitation Department, Qasim added.
According to the director, dozens of people found work during the implementation of these projects and nearly 500 families directly and dozens others indirectly benefited from the schemes.
On the other hand, residents are happy with completion of the water projects and said they previously lacked access to clean water and after this, one of their basic needs has been met.
Abdul Salam, a resident of Koka Balaq village, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “This project is very valuable in our area, we did not have access to drinking water, but now we are happy with the completion of the water supply networks and taps to our houses”.
