LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Three check dams have been constructed at a cost of nearly $220,000 in southern Helmand province, an official said on Thursday.
Governor’s spokesman Mohammad Qasim Riyaz told Pajhwok Afghan News the check dams funded by the Denmark Committee were constructed in Khawaj Jamal, Badkhani and Torkhan districts,.
The projects took six month to be completed, Riyaz explained.
According to him, the check dams will store tens of thousands of cubic meters of rainwater, which will increase the groundwater level.
