KABUL (Pajhwok): The signing of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement sends a clear message that Tehran and Moscow are capable of ensuring regional security on their own, says the Iranian president.
According to TASS news agency, Masoud Pezeshkian made the remarks in an interview with Soloviov Live TV channel in Moscow on Saturday.
“Moscow and Tehran don’t want anyone from outside to determine their roles. We are capable of pursuing independent policies and are ready to develop regional security and economy together, to bring peace and stability here. We don’t need (support from) the West.”
The signing of the agreement with Russia demonstrated the two countries did not accept foreign pressure as they were capable of ensuring regional security, he added.
On Friday, the Iranian president and his Russian counterpart inked the comprehensive partnership agreement, boosting their military, political, trade and economic ties.
