SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Over 930 farmers in the Aqcha district of northern Jawzjan province have been provided with work opportunities after the launch of new project, an official said on Monday.
Agriculture Department Spokesperson Zabihullah Khairandesh told Pajhwok Afghan News this project was implemented with the cooperation of Action Aid.
He said: “This initiative has been launched in cooperation with Action Aid to improve the livelihoods of farmers, create job opportunities for them, and develop agricultural infrastructure in Aqcha district of Jawzjan province.”
He noted that with the start of this project, which includes clearing brush, digging irrigation ditches, and building agricultural infrastructure, 938 farmers have been provided with jobs
He added: “Each farmer will work in this project for 100 days, and each of them will earn a daily wage of 5 US dollars, and during these 100 days, each of them will receive 500 US dollars.”
