KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy Foreign Minister Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai says the role of media and spokesman is an urgent necessity for society in the current era.
Stanikzai made the remarks at a seminar for spokesmen for ministries and independent agencies in Kabul on Tuesday.
In the current era, he said, media and spokesmen played an essential role in the wellbeing of society and the country, and this sector must be strengthened and capable of dealing with all types of situations.
He urged spokesmen to ensure they had comprehensive knowledge not only of their specific work environment but also of the country and society as a whole.
The deputy minister affirmed the commitment of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) to the prosperity, development, and self-sufficiency of the country.
Spokesmen, he said, should regularly share news related to the country's development and progress with media outlets.
One of the instructors at the seminar, Maulvi Abdul Hadi Mujahid, warned information and data, if released without being analysed in a timely manner, could lead to problems.
He stressed a careful assessment of the potential impacts of information and data, whose dissemination affected relations with opposing parties.
He urged spokespersons to share inspiring and morale-boosting information with the public, adding IEA’s media policy was based on truth and moderation.
The four-day training seminar, organised by the Ministry of Information and Culture, began on Sunday and is set to conclude today (Wednesday).
