Saudi Arabia pledges $600 bln investment in US

KABUL (Pajhwok): Saudi Arabia is willing to invest $600 billion in the United States over the next four years, according to a media report on Thursday.

The move, aimed at broadening trade between the two countries, came during the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman congratulatory phone call to the newly appointed president, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

During the call, MBS said Saudi Arabia was eager to seize partnership and investment opportunities created by the new administration’s anticipated reforms, which could achieve “unprecedented economic prosperity,” according to SPA.

The two leaders also discussed cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the US in efforts to promote peace and stability in the Middle East, and to combat terrorism.

From his side, Trump expressed his appreciation and said that the US was also ready to work with the Kingdom “on all that benefits the interests of both countries,” SPA reported.

On Monday after his inauguration, Trump talked about possibly heading to the Kingdom again as his first foreign trip, like he did in 2017.
