KABUL (Pajhwok): Ten people, including a woman, have been publicly punished in southeastern Khost province, the Supreme Court announced on Thursday.
The apex court wrote on its X handle the individuals were punished on charges of adultery, sodomy, fleeing from home, threats and illegitimate relationships by urban court of Khost and primary court of Sabari district.
It said six of them had been sentenced to two years of imprisonment and lashed 39 times. Three had been sentenced to three years in jail and lashed 30 to 39 times each and the last one was sentenced to one year in prison and lashed 39 times, the apex court added.
The punishments were carried out after being approved by the High Authority of the Supreme Court.
Earlier, two people had been punished publicly in central Parwan and southern Kandahar provinces.
