Scores of drug addicts rounded up in Ghazni

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): One hundred and forty drug addicts have been rounded up from Ghazni City, the capital of southern Ghazni province, and some districts and moved to the rehabilitation centre for treatment, an official said on Tuesday.

Police Spokesperson Abu Khalid Sarhadi told Pajhwok Afghan News that for the past three days the campaign of rounding up drug addict had been launched.

He said 75 drug addicts rounded up from Ghazni City, 65 from Gailan, Muqar and Deh Yak districts.

He said the rounded up addicts would stay in the hospital until they completely rehabilitate.

A drug addict Ahmadullah, not a real name, told Pajhwok Afghan News that government should provide him with work opportunity after he got rehabilitated so that he would not return to addiction.

Ghazni's 500-bed addiction treatment camp began operating a year and a half ago, and so far, 1,300 people have been treated there, and 700 more are undergoing treatment.
