KABUL (Pajhwok): About 155 youth graduated from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs' Technical and Vocational Training Center in Kabul on Wednesday.
A graduation ceremony for these youths was held at a hotel in Kabul.
At the ceremony, Deputy Minister Maulvi Mohammad Zahid Ahmadzai said these individuals underwent a six-month training course in the fields of refrigerator, air condition and electrical appliances repair, tailoring, and electricity with financial assistance from Japan.
He said they were trying to reduce unemployment rate in the country and provide jobs for the youth.
According to him, about 35,000 youths have graduated from the ministry's technical and vocational training centers in the past nine months in the country.
Since IEA takeover, technical and vocational training has been provided to 5,000 treated addicts in Kabul at centers affiliated with MoLSA, Ahmadzai added.
Ahmadzai explained more than 34,000 youths graduate annually from the technical and vocational training centers of MoLSA.
He called on institutions to increase their cooperation with the ministry.
At the ceremony, head of Japan UNESCO Office in Kabul Yama Ferozi said the organization has been operating in Afghanistan since 2002 and has always strived to provide technical and vocational training to the Afghan youth.
He said plans would continue offering technical and vocational training programs in the future.
The graduated youth say they have received short-term training in various fields.
According to Abdul Masour, he completed a six-month training course in refrigerator and air condition repair.
He urged the government to help him in finding job.
Decades later, many young people in Afghanistan still suffer from unemployment and are asking the government to provide them with jobs.
