BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): A two-week long Bamyan Futsal Premier Leagues has concluded with the championship of Estiqlal Sheeber team, local officials said on Saturday.
The event featuring 12 teams from districts was held in the provincial capital, Bamyan City.
Mohammad Azim Saadat, head of the provincial Football Federation, told Pajhwok Afghan News Estiqlal Sheeber team won the title.
The two-week long event was launched by the local Football Federation in cooperation with the provincial Sports and Physical Fitness Directorate.
The purpose of holding the competitions was to promote futsal, foster greater coordination among youth and strengthen the spirit of mutual acceptance among athletes, Saadat added.
According to Saadat, Reza Rezaee and Naseem Ahmadi from Estiqlal Sheeber team were named as best scorer and best goal keeper, while Abu Zar from Access team was identified as best player of the event.
Local athletes believe holding such competitions further increase athletes’ interest in sports.
Ali Najafi, one of the players, said such events showed local officials were paying attention to sports in order to increase youth’s interest in sports, create brotherliness and strengthen mutual acceptance among them.
