KABUL (Pajhwok): The survey of Wakhan Corridor connecting Afghanistan with China directly has been completed and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan waited for the start of the project, an official said on Saturday.
The acting Minister of Public Works Mullah Mohammad Esa Sani said this during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan Zhao Xing here.
According to the ministry, at the beginning of the meeting, the two sides discussed the Afghan-Trans project, which connects Central Asian countries with South Asian countries through Afghanistan.
The source also wrote that the two sides also discussed the Wakhan Corridor (Silk Road), which connects Afghanistan and China, and the acting Minister of Public Works of Afghanistan said that the survey work of the Wakhan Corridor has been completed by the ministry and work on its design is underway.
He also said that Afghanistan is fully prepared to start the practical work of this project and added: "To start the practical work of this project (Wakhan Corridor), meetings have been held at the leadership level of the Islamic Emirate with the relevant countries.”
The source wrote that at the end of this meeting, the parties emphasized the continuation of trade and economic relations and the implementation of infrastructure projects between China and Afghanistan and bilateral cooperation.
