KABUL (Pajhwok): The bodies of two Afghan migrants have been recovered on the northern coast of France as police arrested six others, including Afghans, for investigations, reports said on Tuesday.
According to the Voice of America (VoA), the corpses were found in northern France near the Port of Calais.
French authorities said the victims wanted to swim into a boat and then cross to Britain.
A prosecutor of Boulogne-sur-Mercity said 60 people were waiting for a boat but only 24 could reach the vessel. Thirty-seven others were rescued by French coast guard officials.
Without going into details, the officials confirmed the arrest of six individuals including Afghans, Sudanese and Iranian nationals, in connection with the incident.
The report quoted French officials as saying the bodies of 77 such migrants, who were trying to cross to Britain, had been recovered during the past year.
