KABUL (Pajhwok): Under-17 Football Head Coach Elyas Manochehir has said the national team would face tough competition in the 2025 Asian Cup but they are ready to put a good fight.
Under-17 Afghanistan national team is in Group C of the Asian Cup 2025 with South Korea, Yemen and Indonesia.
The Asian Cup 2025 would be hosted by Saudi Arabia from April 3 to 20, and all eyes would be on Afghanistan’s golden football generation.
The reporter of Pajhwok News Agency talked about the start of the Asian Cup, players’ preparation and training, and evaluation of the teams with Ilyas Manouchehr, the head coach of the Afghanistan under-17 national football team.
The head coach of Afghanistan’s under-17 national football team said that the players of the national team have started their training 10 days ago, because there are tough games ahead.
He said that the training was underway under the watch of technical experts and the players of the national team have gained a lot of experience in their recent games.
The head coach said: “Currently, we do not have any problem to complain, our team is training, the ground is good and better at our disposal, the players are at our disposal, the guests come and go from every country, at the moment, the players are coming and we will join them if we choose a good team from these players.”
The said that the teams competing in the Asian Cup tournament were not weak, South Korea was the runner-up and Yemen and Indonesia have always defeated their rivals, he said.
He added that the composition is not the same as the previous competitions, because many players from other provinces and abroad have joined the team and are under evaluation.
The head coach said that if the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) planned to organize friendly matches for the team, the training camp would be started and the Afghanistan team would most likely hold a friendly with the Oman team.
Manochehir said that all the teams would come to the tournament to win and advance, and the Afghanistan team would also go to Saudi Arabia for the same purpose.
He stated that the morale of the players is also high, they practiced with enthusiasm and they would participate in the future matches huge interest.
The head coach of the national U-17 football team has called for support from the government and the people so that, according to him, the team can achieve results and bring honor.
Meanwhile, Hamed Amiri, captain of the national U-17 football team of Afghanistan, also said that their training is going well and given the confidence and preparations, the national team will advance from the group stage.
He added that the team’s players are fully prepared and are satisfied with their training.
Abdul Rahim Rasuli, goalkeeper of the national U-17 football team, also told Pajhwok News Agency that they have been training for the past 10 days and their training is intensive and planned.
According to him, the team is strong and solid, and the players have the necessary preparations for the upcoming matches and will advance.
The level of training is high and intensive and is proceeding according to a plan.
Yaser Safi, another player of the national football team who plays in the right and left winger positions, also said that they have been training for 10 days and he hoped that their training would go well.
He added that as a player of the team, they could advance to the next stages, given their training and experience.
He is satisfied with the level of training and asked the people to support them.
It is worth mentioning that the national under-17 football team would returned to the country on October 25 this year after completing the 2025 Asian Cup qualifiers.
The national football team has won four games and scored 12 points in its four matches in these competitions.
