4 security personnel killed in Balochistan attacks

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan has lost four security personnel in armed attacks on paramilitary checkpoints in southwestern Balochistan province.

Another eight paramilitary troops were wounded in the armed attacks on the Frontier Corps and Levies’ check posts in Kalat and Kech districts.

The Levies check post came under gun attack in Togho Chpeer area early Sunday, Dawn quoted local officials as saying.

Unidentified gunmen opened fire at the post, with Levies personnel returning fire, a Balochistan government spokesman said.

Shahid Raid added the fire exchange continued for some time before the assailants fled. “One Levies man lost his life while two others were seriously injured.”

In Kech district, a check post of the Frontier Corps was attacked. In the ensuing gun battle, three soldiers were killed and six others injured.

Elsewhere in the province, suspected militants attempted to storm a police station in Mashkey area. However, security personnel foiled the attempt.

In Noshki, unidentified motorcyclists lobbed a hand grenade into a police station on Sunday evening. Armed men also opened fire, but the police personnel forced them to flee.
