PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The Kabul-Gardez highway has been reopened for all kinds of traffic after hours of closure due to heavy snowfall and server storms, the Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) said on Thursday.
Governor’s spokesman Sediq Ahmad Sediqi told the highway remained blocked since 2:00am due to heavy snowfall and avalanches, but it was opened to traffic with efforts of the Public Works Departments of Logar and Paktia provinces.
He said the avalanche was two kilometers long and four meters high, but no one was injured or harmed.
Drivers could travel on the road as normal, Sediqi added.
According to Bakht Mohammad, a driver, confirmed, the road was cleared a few moments ago and hundreds of vehicles stuck were allowed to proceed.
Last night, some highways were closed due to snowfall in many provinces of the country.
