KABUL (Pajhwok): The US military says it has killed a senior member of an Al-Qaeda affiliate in a precision airstrike in Syria.
The Central Command (CENTCOM) conducted the strike in northwest Syria on February 23, killing Muhammed Yusuf Ziya Talay.
Talay was a senior military leader of the organisation Hurras al-Din (HaD), an Al-Qaeda affiliate, CENTCOM claimed, without giving further details about the strike.
On February 22 CENTCOM said it had killed a member of an Al-Qaeda-linked group in a strike in Syria.
The US designated Hurras al-Din as a “terrorist” organisation in 2019 and has offered financial rewards for information on several of its members.
