BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Construction work has been launched on a six-kilometre road costing 2.5 million afghanis provided by residents in central Bamyan province, an official said on Monday.
Abdul Saboor Saighani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News residents were building the road at their own expense This road links Bamyan to Daikundi province through Waras and Ashtarly districts.
Waras district chief Syed Ghafoor Hashimi said there is no road between Waras and Ashtarly districts, where thousands of families lived.
He hoped the construction of this road would ease transportation for the people, who previously encountered serious problems.
Hashimi appreciated people’s contribution to and cooperation in rural development projects, considering it important for local prosperity.
