KABUL (Pajhwok): Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) chief spokesman says the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has not been effective and has consistently been trying to portray the county as insecure.
In an audio message, Zabihullah Mujahid, stated that UNAMA's mission in Afghanistan has not been as effective as it should have been.
Mujahid said: “Negative reports about Afghanistan have been presented through them, and unfortunately, the incorrect perception that exists about Afghanistan in the United Nations has been formed based on false and misleading information, which has been conveyed through their channel."
He added: "UNAMA has not taken into account Afghanistan’s progress, achievements, stability, and security, nor has it acknowledged the peace and comfort provided to the people. Instead, it has always sought to highlight negative aspects, exaggerate minor issues, portray Afghanistan as insecure, and create unnecessary concerns."
Mujahid emphasized that UNAMA’s reports were neither beneficial for Afghanistan nor for the United Nations.
Mujahid remarks comes as the UN Security Council is set to hold a meeting on Afghanistan on March 17, where the extension of UNAMA’s mission will also be discussed.
