JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A fresh clash broke out between Afghan and Pakistani forces at Torkham crossing on Wednesday noon, sources in eastern Nangarhar province say.
The clashes erupted at around 12 noon after the Pakistani forces attacked a checkpoint on this side of the crossing with heavy gunfire could still be heard.
A source told Pajhwok on condition of anonymity that Pakistani militia once again attacked a checkpoint in Torkham at noon. He said the Afghan forces retaliated and hit several checkpoints.
However, no reports about casualties or damage could be ascertained as yet.
A Pajhwok reporter in the area also said that heavy gunfire could still be heard now (around 2pm).
Afghan and Pakistani forces have been clashing for the past few days over the construction of a checkpoint near the Durand Line, with casualties on both sides.
The key crossing remains shut for trade and movement of people for the last many days, leaving stranded thousands of cargo trucks and passengers on both sides.
