CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): A week-long cricket tournament, featuring 16 teams, has kicked off in central Parwan province, an official announced on Saturday.
Parwan’s Cricket Director Mohammad Isa Ayubi said the event was aimed to promote the game in the province and provide entertainment for the local community.
Anjamuddin Naseri, organiser of the tournament, said the event featuring teams from the provincial capital and districts would continue for a week.
He added such contests provided opportunities for players to develop their skills.
He also urged the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) to construct a proper stadium in the province.
