KABUL (Pajhwok): A day after being defeated by Japan, the national beach soccer team is set to take on Bahrain in a friendly match today (Sunday).
On its Facebook page, the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) wrote the national side would take on Bahrain in the third friendly clash.
The match was scheduled to commence at 7:30pm local time, AFF said.
After securing a win over Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan lost their encounter to Japan on Saturday.
The national team had left for Thailand on March 10, where they will attend a training camp in the lead-up to an upcoming competition.
Afghanistan will face Iran, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Indonesia in Group C of the Beach Soccer Asia Cup 2025.
Thailand, Kuwait, Lebanon and India are placed in Group A, while Japan, China, Saudi Arabia and Iraq are included in Group B. Group D is comprised of Oman, Bahrain, Malaysia and Vietnam.
The event features a total of 16 beach soccer teams, three of which will qualify for the 2025 World Cup.
The 2025 Beach Soccer Asia Cup is set to begin in Thailand on March 20.
