2024 was deadliest year for migrants, says IOM

KABUL (Pajhwok): Nearly 9,000 migrants died on long migration routes across the world last year, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) says.

In a new report, the IOM said 8,938 migrants lost their lives on migration routes in 2024 — the deadliest year for migrants.

The data collected by the organisation  shows that 8,747 migrants had died in 2023 worldwide.

The report says people resorted to migration due to increased violence in some parts of the globe.
