SHIBERGHAN/FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Several development projects have been completed in northern Jawzjan province and construction work on a 20-kilometer road has been launched in western Ghor province, officials said Wednesday.
Jawzjan development projects
Spokesman for the Jawzjan Rural Rehabilitation and Development department Hafiz Samaruddin Noori told Pajhwok Afghan News the construction of two water supply networks, 40 septic tanks, and the repair of six toilets at a cost of more than 12 million afghanis have been completed and put into service.
He said these projects were implemented in Kalta Shakh village of Khanqah district and Baba Ali village of Shiberghan city, with financial support of Afghanistan Humanitarian Aid Foundation and Walk Foundation, benefiting 8,000 residents.
Yar Mohammad, a resident of Khanqah district, explained: “For years, we faced a shortage of clean water and did not have access to a proper water supply network. Women and children would spend hours fetching water from far away. Now that this network has been repaired and reactivated, our lives have truly changed”.
“Building latrines and repairing toilets are very important for us, especially for women and children who previously suffered from a lack of sanitation. Now the conditions have improved and we can use these facilities with confidence”: Nasruddin, another resident, added.
