KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Works says the Salang Highway will be closed to trailer trucks after July 10 to accelerate major rehabilitation work on the route, urging truck drivers to transport their goods before the deadline.
In a statement, the ministry said rehabilitation work on the strategic highway has already begun and is currently underway in different sections.
The ministry said that, to ensure the project is completed efficiently and to a high standard, the Salang Highway will remain closed to trailer vehicles from July 10, 2026, until further notice.
It urged trailer truck drivers to move their cargo through the route before the specified date and avoid travelling via Salang afterward to prevent any disruption to the rehabilitation process.
The Ministry of Public Works added that other cargo and passenger vehicles, except trailer trucks, will continue to use the highway normally in line with traffic regulations and instructions from Salang officials.
